I read more than the usual number of books this time around.
This came after watching From and trying to find more things like it.American Elsewhere was recommended on Reddit so I had bought it but notread it for awhile.
A lovecraftian esque book set in a small town. I love the small townaspect of Wink. It could only get better if it was really like From andthe inhabitants were trapped. However they were just monsters that werestaying there because their mom told them to.
The most vivid part of the book is hearing about a couple of monsters thatwere pretending to be human. The man would work on his car all day andnight and the woman would stand there with some tray of cookies. They hadno idea what they were doing. The man was bolting anything and everythingto the under carriage. Microwaves, plates, random stuff.
The woman would stand their in her own filth without moving. Her feet werebleeding but she still stood there. They did this because they based theirentire thing on TV. TV never shows the human stuff that we do. This partreally stuck with me
I quite liked this book. More than American Elsewhere. God adopted somekids and was intending for them to replace him. Caroline decides to takethe entire thing and so she ends up killing all her siblings. This was afun and quick read.
Nothing super interesting but I did like it.
Dark academia personified. A book about a girl learning to become a Word.The idea of reading incomprehensible text and visualizing the impossibleresults in humans evoling into Words. This is a pretty cool idea and makesfor a weird Harry Potter style environment.
Not terribly great but it was fun to read.
