I'm using an older version of unifi and the newer settings page wasn't saving my DNS changes. I had set my own name server as the default but it wasn't sticking.
It required changing the settings page to the old style and then updating the DNS server that my unifi router should hand out to get everything to stick properly.
You can find the option called "New Settings" under the Settings page. It's a bit of a hassle. I really need to schedule a time and do a big upgrade of all my unifi gear.
Sucks that the unifi stuff wasn't playing nicely and I didn't realize so I spent alot of time trying to debug other issues. Bah.
