Terra Amata
There is something deeply magical about the idea that there was huts on a beach created by a species that is ancestral to us. Terra Amata is a an archeological site near Nice, France. They found what look to be huts with a hole in the roof, underneath that opening was what looks to be a fire pit.
This area was dated to 400,000 BCE.
